Financial Controller

Zedge seeks a FINANCIAL CONTROLLER (remote position). The ideal candidate needs to have a proven track record as a senior member of a finance team with expertise in financial reporting, GAAP accounting, SEC reporting, budgeting and overall finance department leadership. Strong analytical and communications skills are key. No need to apply unless you are highly motivated, prepared to take responsibility and make a difference!

The Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions and monthly closing at Zedge, Inc. (“ZDGE”), including consolidation of foreign subsidiary. The Controller will maintain accounting principles, best practices, and systems for collecting, analyzing, and reporting information. He or She must have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including but not limited to ASC 606, ASC 718, ASC 740, ASC 805 and ASC 842. He or She will also be responsible for assisting with the SEC reporting and supporting upper management across teams with financial procedures. He or she will be work remotely but reside in the greater New York City area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve daily accounts payable invoices for proper coding in QuickBooks (“QB”) and weekly payments
  • Review and reconcile royalty payments on a quarterly basis
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll
  • Check bank accounts daily for incoming customers payments and record them in QB
  • Approve accrual and reclassification entries needed to ensure materially accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare a monthly summary of the capitalized software and technology development costs
  • Prepare and review monthly reconciliations for all relevant accounts
  • Provide a monthly variance analysis comparing actuals vs. budget and actuals vs. prior year
  • Prepare a monthly bank compliance reporting package
  • Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and tax entries
  • Assist management with the recognition of Deferred Revenue
  • Assist with quarterly review and annual audit related to SEC reporting requirement
  • Assist with the administration of the equity award programs including options, restricted stock and deferred stock units
  • Assist with preparation of annual budgets, and analysis of budgets inputs
  • Prepare 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC
  • Prepare and file Delaware Annual Franchise Tax Report
  • Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; and evaluation of financial data; and preparing special reports on an ad hoc basis
  • Provide ad hoc inquires related to customers and vendors
  • Provide subject matter expertise across all Zedge’s geographic locations; resolve questions and issues that may arise

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, Business with an emphasis in Accounting, or related field
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferred big 4 experience
  • Programmatic mobile and web advertising experience is preferred
  • SEC reporting experience is preferred
  • Consolidating experience with foreign subsidiary is preferred
  • Exposure/experience with M&A transactions is preferred
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
  • Strong motivational and leadership skills
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
  • Proficiency in Excel

Commensurate with experience and following the formula of base + bonus
